“Storage not detected” can be caused by wiring, voltage, reset, controller state, link startup or failed media. A failed read is evidence, not automatically a dead IC.
Never interchange the interfaces

Read-only fault isolation
- Record phone current draw and boot/USB mode without invasive changes.
- Check power-to-ground shorts unpowered; verify adapter polarity and common ground.
- Use a device-specific reference to confirm supply levels and IO-domain limits. Do not infer from another board.
- Inspect cable length, grounds, connector seating, signal integrity and operating speed.
- Attempt read-only identity/health detection before any erase, FFU or configuration write.
- Compare identity with previous donor or board evidence; document retries and exact error codes.
Data protection
RPMB authentication and counters are platform/security dependent. There is no universal “clean RPMB” method that makes any donor usable. Always preserve accessible calibration, modem, NV and customer data according to authorization and privacy constraints. Failed programmer detection does not prove a physically failed memory IC.
